Dana Karwas is a designer for art, cinema, and architecture.

Her work is rooted in architecture and extends to the edges of social systems and cultural dimensions. Dana teaches the Metaforms class and thesis seminar at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). She has taught classes on interactive media at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation, at Harvestworks digital media center in NYC, and at the LEMURPLEX in Brooklyn.

Dana is currently working with the artist Maya Lin on the What is Missing? memorial, a multi-media memorial for the endangered species of the world. What is Missing? has been exhibited at The California Academy of Sciences, The Beijing Center for the Arts, the COP 15 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, Storm King Art Center, The Clinton Global Initiative, and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. Currently the installation is traveling through China visiting 14 different cities.

Dana's installation work and projects have been shown at the Chelsea Art Museum, The Boston Museum of Science, The London Festival of Architecture, The DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival, The University Club NYC, Knoll International Paris, The Museum of Television and Radio NYC, The International Contemporary Furniture Fair NYC, Karkula Gallery NYC, The Cycling 74 Max/MSP/Jitter Conference in San Francisco, The Malin + Goetz Store NYC, Felissimo Design House NYC, and the Center for Architecture NYC.

She is currently working on a modern barn renovation in upstate New York. In the fall of 2010 she will curate a monthly interactive film event called SUPERCINEMA. The debut screeing for SUPERCINEMA will be of Plein Soleil, director Rene Clement's nail-biting European version of The Talented Mr. Ripley. The film will be accompanied by Italian treats and refreshments, a slideshow on sociopathy, analysis of RIpley by an expert on Patricia Highmith, a dance and music performance based on Ennio Morricone's theme, plus several other surprises.
SUPERCINEMA: October 22nd, 2010 Tisch School of the Arts @ 7pm
